Stacey Metulynsky - Bio

Stacey Metulynsky is a professional wine lover, writer, event planner, and educator. She established Groovy Grapes, a wine events company that runs private, public and corporate wine events with the focus of making wine fun and approachable for all. She also represents two Niagara wineries, Reif Estate Winery and Frogpond Farm. She graduated from the Sommelier Program at Algonquin College capturing both the National Capital Sommelier Guild Scholarship for Wine Education and the Cave Spring Cellars Sommelier Award of Excellence.

She's appeared on local television as a wine consultant, publishes her own monthly newsletter and writes about wine for publications including Preston Catalogue and COG (Certified Organic Growers) national newsletter. Stacey's public events have appeared in the Ottawa Citizen, Ottawa City Magazine, Ottawa Life Magazine, Hipster and Poser Magazine and Natalie MacLean's internationally recognized newsletter, Nat Decants. Some of the events that have received local media attention include Canadian Wine and Cheese Tasting at the National Gallery of Canada, God's Gift to Men and Women at the Museum of Civilization's wine exhibit and the Ottawa Summer Wine Tour at Helsinki Lounge and Disco.

Groovy Grapes is deeply involved with local charities, arts organizations and the wine community: Cocktails for Cancer 2004; the Metropolitan Culture Series, a partnership between Opera Lyra, Museum of Civilization and the National Arts Centre; fundraising events for the Great Canadian Theatre Company and the Chamber Music Society of Ottawa; and Founding Board Member of the Australian Wine Society of Ottawa.
