The Heart & Crown ByWard has been in operation since April 1992. It opened as a 50 seat restaurant with a 30 seat patio. 
Five years later, the company doubled in size when the Snug Pub was opened and attached to the Heart & Crown - quickly becoming a favourite spot for Irish regulars. In 2001, the company quadrupled in size when the Mother McGintey’s and Black Rose pubs were added and connected to the others. In 2011, the Heart & Crown grew once again when another pub was added to the fold. Peter Devine's, located directly beside the Heart & Crown, is a  dedication to the hard working Irish-Canadians that helped build Bytown into the bustling community it is today. The Irish Village now stretches a city block in the Historic ByWard Market in the heart of Canada’s greatest city, Ottawa.

Led by Executive Chef Romain Riva, The Wakefield Mill offers two restaurants based on fine French and Québécois cuisine, infused with international nuances.  Our fine dining room is embraced by the Mill’s one-metre thick stonewalls, warmed by a large open-hearth, double-sided fireplace, and extended with a 45 seat glassed-in solarium overlooking MacLaren Falls.  The wine list features a selection of New World and Old World wines, focusing on boutique wineries hand-picked by our sommeliers.  A country breakfast is served daily; Brunch on Sundays from 9am to 2pm.  Dinner is served daily from 530pm.  A full lunch menu is offered from Monday to Saturday.  Decorated with historic pictures and with live Jazz on Saturday evenings, the Wakefield Mill Lounge is the perfect place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink.  Adjacent to the lounge is the new Heron Room, which offers a more casual and modern dining experience overlooking MacLaren Falls.
